The Salar de Uyuni is the largest salt flat in the world at about 10,580 km², and so flat — under a metre of variation across its whole surface — that satellites use it to calibrate their altimeters. La Paz sits between 3,200 and 4,100 m, making it the highest seat of government anywhere. Lake Titicaca, shared with Peru, is the highest large navigable lake in the world at 3,812 m.
