# The flag of Bolivia

Bolivia is the only country with two flags of equal official standing: the tricolour and the Wiphala, a 49-square rainbow chequerboard representing the Andean indigenous peoples, which the 2009 constitution made a national symbol alongside it. Both are flown together on state buildings. The tricolour dates from 1851 and its unusual 15:22 ratio is used by no other country. The state flag carries an elaborate coat of arms with a condor, an alpaca and Cerro Rico of Potosí, the silver mountain that funded the Spanish empire.
