# The flag of Cambodia

Cambodia is the only country with a building on its national flag, and it has been there in some form since 1863 — through the monarchy, the republic, the Khmer Rouge and the UN transitional administration, each of which redrew the temple but none of which removed it. The current version, restored with the monarchy in 1993, shows three towers; earlier versions showed five, or a stylised outline. Afghanistan carried a mosque on its flag between 2004 and 2021, and San Marino shows towers within its arms, but neither is a plain architectural depiction like this. The nation-religion-king triad is the flag's explicit reading.

## What the colours mean

*Flag laws usually specify a Pantone chip, a CMYK mix or just a colour name. Converting any of those to sRGB is lossy, which is why published hex values disagree.*
