# Non-chlorine bleach only

## What it means

This is the most misread symbol on the label: two lines inside a triangle looks like a cancellation, but it permits bleaching, just not with chlorine. Oxygen bleach is sodium percarbonate or hydrogen peroxide — the active ingredient in colour-safe stain removers and in most "whitening" laundry boosters. It works more slowly, needs warmth to activate properly, and does not strip dye. Reaching for household chlorine bleach on a garment marked this way turns coloured areas patchy within a single soak, and the damage is not reversible.
