# Click speed test

Clicks per second over a timed burst of 1, 5, 10 or 60 seconds.

## How it works

Click as fast as you can for the chosen duration. The timer starts on your first click, so there is no wasted reaction time at the start.

Around 6 to 8 clicks per second is a typical result with ordinary clicking over five seconds. Rates much above that generally come from specific techniques — jitter clicking, which uses arm tension to produce a tremor, and butterfly clicking, which alternates two fingers. Both can produce 10 to 15 CPS and both carry a real risk of repetitive strain injury, which is worth knowing before chasing a number.

Longer durations give lower rates. Sustained clicking fatigues quickly, so a 60-second average sits well below a 5-second burst for almost everyone.

## Common questions

### What is a good clicks per second score?

Around 6–8 CPS over five seconds is typical with ordinary clicking. Higher rates usually involve jitter or butterfly technique.

### Why is my 60-second score lower than my 5-second one?

Fatigue. Clicking speed drops noticeably after a few seconds, so longer tests always average lower.
