# Decision maker

Yes or no, or a weighted decision matrix scoring options against criteria.

## How it works

Two modes. The coin-flip mode answers yes or no. The matrix mode scores several options against weighted criteria and totals them.

The matrix is the useful one, and not for the reason people expect. Its value is rarely the winning number — it is that assigning weights forces you to state what you actually care about, and that is usually where the disagreement was hiding. Two people arguing about which option is better are often really disagreeing about which criterion matters.

If the result feels wrong, that is information rather than a failure. A matrix that produces an answer you immediately want to argue with has usually revealed a weight you set carelessly, or a criterion you left out.

On the coin flip: if you find yourself wanting to flip again, you already know the answer.

## Common questions

### How does a decision matrix work?

Score each option against each criterion, multiply by the criterion’s weight, and total. The point is less the total than being forced to state the weights.

### What if I disagree with the result?

That is useful — it usually means a weight was set carelessly or a criterion is missing. Adjust and re-run.
