What a meeting costs in salary time, per hour and per year if it recurs.

## How it works

Multiplies attendees by their hourly cost and the meeting length, and extrapolates a recurring meeting across the year.

Hourly cost is not salary divided by working hours. Employer costs — payroll tax, pension, insurance, equipment, space — typically add 25 to 40% on top, so a fully loaded hourly rate is meaningfully higher than the naive figure. The tool applies an overhead multiplier and says so.

The recurring figure is the one that changes behaviour. A weekly hour with eight people is not an hour — it is over 400 person-hours a year, and at typical rates well into five figures. That framing is the point of the calculation.

This is a cost, not a verdict. Some expensive meetings are worth far more than they cost, and the alternative to a meeting is often a longer, slower thread. The number is there to make the trade visible, not to argue one way.
