USB-C describes the physical connector and says nothing whatsoever about speed or capability. The same port can be USB 2.0 at 480 Mbit/s or USB4 at 40 Gbit/s, can carry 5 W or 240 W, and may or may not carry video. This is the single most common source of confusion in the category: two identical-looking cables can differ by a factor of eighty in throughput. USB Power Delivery 3.1 raised the ceiling to 240 W (48 V at 5 A), which is what allows laptops and even some monitors to run from one.
