Three that save the most trouble

  • Polypropylene and polyethylene resist almost every adhesive, because their surface energy is too low for glue to wet them. This is not a product problem — it is physics, and it needs a specific primer rather than a stronger glue.
  • WD-40 is a water displacer and penetrant, not a lubricant. It evaporates and can wash away the grease that was doing the work, which is why it eventually makes locks worse rather than better.
  • Never use a hammer drill on tile. Percussion shatters it. Rotary mode with a spear-point or diamond bit, and keep it cool.
