Common questions

What are banknotes made of?
Not wood pulp. Traditional notes are a cotton and linen blend, which is why they survive a wash; many countries have moved to a polymer film instead.
What is glitter made of?
Almost always aluminised polyester film — a microplastic. Which is why several jurisdictions have restricted it.
