16340 / RCR123A The rechargeable lithium-ion cell in the same 16 × 34 mm space — note it is 1 mm narrower, and 3.7 V nominal against 3.0, 4.2 V straight off the charger. Some torches accept both and say so; many do not, and the extra 1.2 V has been enough to destroy driver circuits and, in a two-cell light, to overheat.
Two CR123A of different age or brand in series In two-cell torches, mismatched primaries can drive the weaker one into reversal, which vents it. Replace both at once, same brand, same date.

The CR17345 is a primary cell and must never be put in a charger. Charging a sealed primary battery builds gas pressure inside a can with no vent designed for it, which is how they rupture or catch fire. Rechargeable look-alikes exist for several sizes and carry different codes — check the code, not the shape.
