How many steps to the top of Eiffel Tower?

Steps to the top of Eiffel Tower
674
Reaching the second floor, at 115 m — the highest point the public can reach on foot · open to climb

The staircase ticket takes you to the second floor and no further: from there to the summit is a lift ride, and there is no public stair access above 115 m. The 674 figure is the count from the ground, of which 328 get you to the first floor. The often-quoted 1,665 steps is the total to the summit including the service stairs nobody may use, and even that number is disputed — 1,710 and 1,792 both circulate, depending on whether the steps inside the summit structure and up to the antenna platform are counted. Climbing is substantially cheaper than the lift and the queue is usually shorter.

What the climb is like

Roughly 30-45 minutes at a steady pace. Open-tread steps in an open lattice; not for anyone uneasy with heights.

Published counts for the same structure routinely disagree by five to ten per cent, and nearly always for one of three reasons: whether intermediate landings count as steps, whether the final platform step counts, and where the climb is deemed to start. The figure here says what it reaches.
