The Atlantic coast runs about 1,600 km. Angola sits on the southern edge of the Congo rainforest and the northern edge of the Namib, so it crosses from jungle to desert in a single north-south drive. Cabinda, one of its provinces, is separated from the rest of the country by a strip of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
