The Belize Barrier Reef is the second-longest reef system in the world after Australia's, running about 300 km. The Great Blue Hole in its middle is a 318 m-wide, 124 m-deep collapsed cave, flooded when sea levels rose after the last ice age. Over sixty percent of the country is forest.
