Cyanoacrylate cures on contact with moisture, including the moisture in air, so every opening of the tube starts a slow cure inside it. Refrigerating or freezing an opened tube slows that dramatically and is the standard trick — let it come to room temperature before opening it, or condensation will do the job for you. The single-use sachets exist precisely because the opened-tube problem is so hard to solve.
How to store it
- Fridge or freezer for opened tubes, in a sealed bag.
- Wipe the nozzle before capping; the glued-shut cap is the usual failure.
How to tell it has gone
- Thickened, stringy, or slow to set.
"Use by" and "best before" are legally different. Use-by is a safety date and should be respected; best-before is about quality, and food is usually fine well past it. Where the two diverge matters, the page above says which applies.
