How many cups of coffee are drunk every day?

How many cups of coffee are drunk every day?
roughly 2.5 billion
Roughly one cup of coffee a day for every three people alive. Coffee is the second most traded commodity by value after oil among agricultural goods.

World coffee consumption runs at about 175 million 60-kg bags a year, which is 10.5 million tonnes of green coffee. At the 8 to 12 grams a standard cup takes, that is somewhere between 900 billion and 1.3 trillion cups a year, or roughly 2.5 billion a day. Finland drinks the most per head, around 12 kg a year — about four times the world average and roughly three cups a day for every man, woman and child.

How the figure is arrived at

Green coffee tonnage divided by grams per cup. The tonnage is well measured because coffee is a traded commodity tracked at export and import; the grams-per-cup figure is the loose end, and moving it from 8 g to 12 g changes the answer by 50%.
