How many ways can you shuffle a deck of cards?
A 52-card deck can be arranged in 52! ways — 52 × 51 × 50 × … × 1 — which is exactly 80,658,175,170,943,878,571,660,636,856,403,766,975,289,505,440,883,277,824,000,000,000,000. The practical consequence is the interesting bit. Every time you properly shuffle a deck, you almost certainly produce an ordering that has never existed before in the history of the world and never will again. Not "probably" in a loose sense — the probability that any given shuffle repeats a previous one is so close to zero that it is not worth writing down.

52 choices for the first card, 51 for the second, and so on: the factorial. Worth knowing alongside it: seven riffle shuffles are enough to randomise a deck, and six are not.
