What it means
This is about emissions, not electrical safety — the FCC regulates the radio spectrum, so the mark says the device will not interfere with other equipment, and for transmitters that it operates within its licensed parameters. Under the current Supplier's Declaration of Conformity regime the logo itself is optional for many products, so its absence is not a warning sign. Devices with radios carry an FCC ID as well, which is a searchable identifier that will pull up the original test report and internal photographs.
Defined by 47 CFR Parts 15 and 18. Where a symbol differs between standards, the difference is described above rather than resolved — both versions are in circulation on real labels.
