Exact days, weeks, months and working days between two dates.
How it works
Counts the interval between two dates in days, weeks, months and years, and separately counts working days excluding weekends.
Whether to count inclusively is the ambiguity worth naming. From the 1st to the 3rd is two days of elapsed time but three calendar days if you count both endpoints. Contracts, notice periods and hire charges differ on which they mean, so both are shown.
Month counting is genuinely ambiguous because months vary in length. The convention here — used by essentially every legal system — counts whole calendar months rather than 30-day blocks, so 31 January to 28 February is one month, not 28 days’ worth of a month.

- Should I count both the start and end date?
- It depends what the count is for. Elapsed time excludes one endpoint; notice periods and hire charges often include both. Both figures are given.
- How are months counted?
- As whole calendar months, not 30-day blocks, which is what legal and financial usage assumes.
