Codes that mean the same battery

Different manufacturers, one physical battery. Voltage, chemistry and dimensions all match.
Code Fits?
DL1632 Yes — same cell
ECR1632 Yes — same cell
BR1632 Yes — same cell
KCR1632 Yes — same cell

Codes that look close but are not

Code Why it is not a substitute
CR1620 Same diameter, 1.2 mm thinner and around 60% of the capacity. It sits loose in a CR1632 holder.
CR2032 Also 3.2 mm thick, but 20 mm across rather than 16. It will not enter the holder.

The CR1632 is a primary cell and must never be put in a charger. Charging a sealed primary battery builds gas pressure inside a can with no vent designed for it, which is how they rupture or catch fire. Rechargeable look-alikes exist for several sizes and carry different codes — check the code, not the shape.

Where it turns up

  • Toyota, Lexus and Subaru smart keys
  • Tyre pressure sensors
  • Bike computers and cadence sensors
  • Some Garmin and Wahoo accessories

Common questions

What is equivalent to a CR1632?
DL1632, ECR1632, BR1632, KCR1632 — all the same 3 V cell under different manufacturer codes.
Can I use a CR1620 instead of a CR1632?
Same diameter, 1.2 mm thinner and around 60% of the capacity. It sits loose in a CR1632 holder.
Is the CR1632 rechargeable?
No. It is a primary cell — charging one risks rupture or fire. Rechargeable look-alikes exist in the same size under different codes.
