CR2450 battery

What replaces a CR2450
DL2450, ECR2450, KCR2450, BR2450, 5029LC, SB-A8
3 V lithium (primary), 24.5 × 5 mm (diameter × height)

The CR2450 is a single-use 3 V lithium (primary) coin cell. The codes below are the same physical cell sold under different manufacturer names, and any of them will fit.

Codes that mean the same battery

Different manufacturers, one physical battery. Voltage, chemistry and dimensions all match.
Code Fits?
DL2450 Yes — same cell
ECR2450 Yes — same cell
KCR2450 Yes — same cell
BR2450 Yes — same cell
5029LC Yes — same cell
SB-A8 Yes — same cell

Codes that look close but are not

Code Why it is not a substitute
CR2477 Same 24.5 mm diameter but 7.7 mm tall instead of 5.0. It carries far more charge and will not close a CR2450 compartment.
CR2430 Same diameter, 3.0 mm thick. It rattles in a CR2450 holder and holds about half the charge.
LIR2450 Rechargeable at 3.6 V nominal. Never charge a CR2450.

The CR2450 is a primary cell and must never be put in a charger. Charging a sealed primary battery builds gas pressure inside a can with no vent designed for it, which is how they rupture or catch fire. Rechargeable look-alikes exist for several sizes and carry different codes — check the code, not the shape.

Where it turns up

  • Smart door locks and Yale/August keypads
  • Zigbee and Z-Wave door and motion sensors
  • Blood glucose meters
  • Heated ski gloves and electric-scooter remotes

Common questions

What is equivalent to a CR2450?
DL2450, ECR2450, KCR2450, BR2450, 5029LC, SB-A8 — all the same 3 V cell under different manufacturer codes.
Can I use a CR2477 instead of a CR2450?
Same 24.5 mm diameter but 7.7 mm tall instead of 5.0. It carries far more charge and will not close a CR2450 compartment.
Is the CR2450 rechargeable?
No. It is a primary cell — charging one risks rupture or fire. Rechargeable look-alikes exist in the same size under different codes.
