Nearly a thousand islands strung over 1,500 km. Kavachi, an undersea volcano in the group, erupts often enough that its crater has been found to hold sharks living in hot, acidic water. Rennell is the largest raised coral atoll in the world, and its Lake Tegano is the biggest lake in the insular Pacific.
