Equatorial Guinea
Equatorial Guinea
Capital Malabo
28,051 km² · 1,938,431 people (2025) · Central African CFA franc
The capital sits on Bioko Island, about 250 km from the mainland part of the country. Bioko itself is the tip of a volcano, and Pico Basile rises 3,011 m out of the sea. Annobón, the southernmost island, lies below the equator, so Equatorial Guinea is the only African state with territory in both hemispheres either side of the line.
