LR44 / SR44 The same 11.6 × 5.4 mm can as the most common button cell in the world, which makes this the most dangerous size confusion in hearing aids. The zinc-air cell is 1.4 V and needs air; the alkaline and silver oxide cells are sealed 1.5 and 1.55 V cells. A hearing aid fitted with an LR44 runs at the wrong voltage, and a PR44 fitted to a caliper dies within days.
675P / cochlear implant cells Implant processors use a high-power variant of the same size, sometimes marked 675P or "implant plus". A standard 675 fits and will not deliver the current the processor needs.

The PR44 is a primary cell and must never be put in a charger. Charging a sealed primary battery builds gas pressure inside a can with no vent designed for it, which is how they rupture or catch fire. Rechargeable look-alikes exist for several sizes and carry different codes — check the code, not the shape.
