What it means
The square means drying and the circle means a machine — the shape is meant to read as a drum in a cabinet. With no dots inside, no temperature limit is specified, which in practice means normal heat. Everything a dryer does badly it does through heat plus tumbling: cotton shrinks, elastane goes slack, printed transfers crack and down clumps. If a garment fits after washing and not after drying, the dryer is almost always the culprit.
