What it means
This one is jurisdictional. The US guide, ASTM D5489, keeps A for "any solvent" and defines P as "any solvent except trichloroethylene". ISO 3758 dropped the letter A entirely — a current European label uses only P, F or W — so meeting a circled A tells you the label was written to a North American or an older specification. Either way it is the least restrictive dry-clean instruction there is, and any cleaner can take the item.
Defined by ASTM D5489 (not used in current ISO 3758). Where a symbol differs between standards, the difference is described above rather than resolved — both versions are in circulation on real labels.
