What it means
ISO 3758 sets this at a maximum 80 °C exhaust temperature and calls it normal; US labelling under ASTM D5489 reads two dots as medium and reserves three for high. It is the standard setting for cottons and household linen. The difference between the ISO and US readings is small in practice because domestic dryers do not measure exhaust temperature for the user — the labels on the dial are the only control anyone has.
