Bacteria are not primarily a disease category; they are infrastructure. Nitrogen in the atmosphere is unavailable to plants until nitrogen-fixing bacteria convert it, so agriculture and virtually all plant growth would fail within one or two growing seasons without them. Decomposition would stall, leaving dead material to accumulate and locking up the carbon and nutrients it contains. Ruminants would starve immediately, because cattle, sheep and deer digest cellulose using microbial fermentation rather than their own enzymes, and human digestion and immune development would be seriously impaired. Wastewater treatment, cheese, yoghurt, bread and a large share of industrial chemistry would stop working the same day. The counterfactual is hard to model because bacteria are entangled with everything, which is exactly the point of asking.
